CE: Aquilus Excelsi

My contest entry for 's mascot contest is finished! 8D I worked a full three days on this;;; I decided I'd use an original specie/concept for her mascot, since I don't mind co-owning this specie with her~ I'm nearly done writing up the info for Tasked Angels, the name of my specie. (A few of my watchers from my other account will know where this term came from XD) I'll be writing a journal about them later, after I take care of all my neglected schoolwork and a chibi commission!

There are three types of Tasked Angels, of which one of them is the Excelsi (high-rank) type. This fella is, in particular, an Aquilus Excelsi because of his dark-colored ('aquilus' means 'dark-clothed' in Latin) robes. Here's an excerpt from the info I'm working on right now:

_{-Excelsi (High-rank) Type: Uncommon type, named for their highest status in the angelical hierarchy. These are the Angels who do not guard a person or an animal: They guard other things (usually of importance), such as thousand-year-old trees or sacred land. Excelsi types have more extravagant robes and crests, and don more jeweled ornaments than the Daltivus. Also, their wings (which can be any shade of color other than the default white) are tipped with silver, emphasizing their power. The Excelsi are highly proud and some are even arrogant about their status and skills. Probably because they do not guard subjects that can dream, the Angel Dew of the Excelsi does not run out easily, and has more power potential than the common Daltivus'. The method of recharging Angel Dew for the Excelsi is currently unknown.}

I thought an Excelsi type Tasked (Guardian) Angel would be a nice mascot since it guards things of importance that are not people or animals. IT COULD GUARD YOUR GALLERY And it looks perfect with a crown motif, as Excelsi Angels are of high status. I tried to incorporate some of the things =PrinceProcrastinate likes without making it look cluttered: Red, gold, white & black, small crowns, wings etc. :3 There's also a back view of the robes with semi-transparent, simplified wings so that you can see the slits in the robes where the wings come out from!

I think I had a fun time designing this~ if I don't win, I guess I'll keep this guy to use as my own page mascot or something. I really love the robe hem motifs I drew there!
